A Dreamer's Confessions

THE DREAMER

DEVIANTART MYANIMELIST TUMBLR

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my little corner here.

欢迎!我很高兴见到你! It's very comfy and cozy, I assure you c:

Okay, confession timee. I'm an awkward hermit. I'm basically a very atypical high school girl who stays in her room a lot of the time, but this interesting trip I will take you along will show you how broad the world I live in is. You'll basically get to walk into the life of a imaginative, bizarre girl's world. There's no turning back...you stepped foot into a place where you'll have a glimpse of all my hobbies *cough obsessions* : my love for ANIME, k-pop, fashion, animals, writing, music...the list goes on!

I hope you enjoy your stay~

    Shoujo Princess (少女プリンセス) HAIRSTYLE
    Saturday, February 8, 2014 • 3:40 PM • 0 comments

Hi there~ I wouldn't be confessing something absolutely crazy if I say that it almost always a girls' dream to transform into a beautiful princess and be swept away by a prince charming. I've always been fascinated by the absolutely adorable aspect of shoujo animes and mangas, so if you would like to know how to achieve this youthful, lovely look, please continue to read this tutorial for more information!
It's a really pretty simple hairstyle and it's very easily achievable!

    Let's get started!
    Here's a list of materials you'll need:
bobby pins (around 6-8 in total)   2 small rubber bands (that match color of your hair)
2 bows (optional)    clip-on bangs (optional)   hair spray*** (optional)
***this is to maintain hairstyle if you plan on going out!

    1) You want to start out with completely brushed out hair free of tangles!
Tangles will cause this to be a little bit messy and if you have clip-on bangs this will help you
achieve a youthful, more anime-like look, but without would look just as adorable

    2) Use a comb to part your entire head of hair into two; left and right. Then, take a small section of your hair so that you can leave it in the front. Separate the leftover hair on one side of your hair into three sections by grabbing hair from the front and the back. It doesn't really matter if you make it completely equal, but make sure the two outer sections of hair aren't too thin! If you have thin hair like me, try put less of your hair at the very front near your bangs or eliminate that step completely so you have hair leftover for the three sections.
Remember to part your hair with a comb and make sure the line is straight down the back of your head. I once tried this and had more hair on the left than right so make sure it's parted equally!
    3) Take those two sections of hair on the outer sides and twist them around each other. You can twist it one, two, or three times depending on your length of hair and how secure you want it so your hair is kept in place. This time I wasn't looking for a long-lasting hair style so I twisted. Bring the twisted hair underneath the third, untwisted section of hair, then wrap the twisted hair around the untwisted hair by wrapping the two ends around it like the photograph below.
You might want to do a better job of grabbing all your hair in the back unlike me..haha and it's really frizzy and dry so if possible try to moisturize your hair for this hairstyle! I recommend leave in conditioners!
    4) Cross the two ends by bringing them on the opposite side of the middle strand of hair. The above step can be a little bit tricky, so in the photograph below I show you what it looks like once you wrap the twisted section of hair. however I did it very loosely to show you what it looks like more carefully. You don't want it to look loose like in my photo, so in the next panel you see me tightening it and achieving a secure, tight looking beginning of a braid (what it's supposed to look like). Now once you have that just braid your hair like you normally would down your hair until you reach close to the end.
    5) Take the rubber band, and tie it when you reach near the end to secure your hair. You want to leave around 3-5 inches left at the end just like the image below. You don't have to worry about making your braid really tight, in fact, if you want to get the best result I would make the braids more loose so that they appear thicker and fuller~
    6) Repeat steps 2-5 and do the same for the other side of your hair. The below picture doesn't really show a picture of this step, however it shows you that you should try to balance your hair and make it look as symmetrical as possible. So if you make your braids looser on one side, do the same to the other.
You want to try and make it as symmetrical as possible!
(especially if you are aiming to achieve the look of Death the Kid's shoujo princess girlfriend
bahh asdfghjkl really lame Soul Eater reference I'm sorry T ^ T *rolls away*)
    7) On the side your working on, take opposite hand  curl it up. Then, use your hand on the side of your hair to hold it into position. Bring it up above to the position above your ear. Some advice to make it look the best is to bring your hair on your face (further away from your ear) if possible and not so far back. So if the braids are touching your cheek or are close to it, don't be too afraid to have it in that position~

Get the bobby pins ready, and roll up your sleeves....
because this next part is going to be quite the challenge!

    8) Go around in circles and make your hair like a coil, or a pile of rope. Round and round and round until you reach the rubber band that you used to secure your hair. On the right side of the photograph below, I should you the shape you want to make at the end of the coil in order to make sure your hair is completely secure. In the middle of this shape is where you want to stick several bobby pins to make your hair stays in place. The main reason you also want to finish it off in this shape is because where the arrow points is your hair, and the other end is the end of your hair. You want to have that little end of your hair stick out at the end.
Do NOT feel like you are over-doing it with the number of bobby pins haha if you are using bows that is the gigantic, yet very adorable prop that will be hiding the mess of bobby pins!
    9) Tada!!  YOU ARE AMAZING! You have successfully kept it secure
Pat yourself on the back and do a celebration dance. No, I'm not crazy haha this is a necessary step to make sure that it actually stays in place! So don't be afraid to go all out and do some heavy metal hair thrashing.

If it comes undone though...you know what that means D:  Repeat 7-8 and...MORE BOBBY PINS!
You can't over do it with the bobby pins, but still make sure there are none sticking out that you can see sticking out when you face the front because that would look very strange xD

    10) Repeat steps 7-8 for the other side of your hair! If your hair is thin like mine and it looks like the left side of the image below, you can pull at the braid to make it look poofier and give people the illusion that you have thicker hair.
    11) Dan dan~The hair style portion of this tutorial is now complete!
The next part is for if you would like to accessorize and hide the mess of bobby pins really xD
Prepare your creepy big-eyed shoujo manga stare and glare into the souls of someone you admire!
haha just kidding don't do that because you might seriously scare them away.
DON'T MAKE THIS A CREEPY YANDARE LOOK!
Work your magical powers in some other way to capture their hearts
(this part actually requires you to capture them with your own charm hahasorry can't really help you with this step, but every girl has her own charm, so it should be a very achieveable step for everyone!
The irony is...I am almost posing in the creepy yanadare pose haha whoops
    12) See the messy land mine of bobby pins on the sides of your hair? Why they can be easily fixed by adding bows! Bows are really easy to make + can be easily accessed anywhere (in nearby shops such as Walmart or Walgreens as well).

    YOUR MAGICAL TRANSFORMATION
     IS NOW COMPLETE!

*plays ceremonial music* Your Highness, you are now crowned Princess.
Thank you for reading this tutorial, and I hope you enjoy this look~ bye bye~
